Liverpool’s Signature Living hotel group has unveiled remarkable plans to launch a 600-bed ‘party boat hotel’ to take young Mersey River ravers to Ibiza and other party destinations in the Mediterranean.
The ambitious plan comes after company boss Lawrence Kenwright shelled out £ 3.9million for a new cruise liner – which he intends to open as a party hotel in plush this summer.
The idea would be to moor the rave ship on the Mersey, before it leaves for Ibiza, Marbella and Mallorca.
Signature Living intends to launch the ship’s maiden voyage from the banks of the Mersey in the spring of 2019.
Converting the ship into a luxury party hotel will be Signature Living’s first offshore venture.
The company says it will appeal to a younger generation of vacationers as it will encompass the famous Alma De Cuba brand.
The hotel on the water will see sun worshipers experience “Ocean and Nikki Beach style parties” with “world famous DJs performing from the Mersey to the Mediterranean”.
Signature Living is planning an extensive work program in Liverpool next year.
In addition to the party boat plan, the company will be opening its new Dixie Dean hotel on Victoria Street as it seeks to create a “football district” alongside its existing Shankly hotel.
Lawrence Kenwright talks about buying Cavern Walks
And the company says it will begin work on transforming the Cavern Walks shopping center – with the ambition of creating a “Las Vegas-style” hotel that includes restaurants and outlets.
Speaking of the plans, Signature Living President Lawrence Kenwright said:
“Signature Living has always been different and has grown as other hotel brands have left, and our floating hotel is a big step forward. We want to show the world our unique concept and I know this ship will help us do that.
“As we continue to evolve we are mindful of ensuring that Liverpool is at the heart of our ambitions, which is why we are adding two new hotels to our portfolio in the city. I’m incredibly excited about what 2019 will bring. “
