If you have planned a trip, maybe now is the time …

The latest update from the government of Dubai focused on the reopening of maritime tourism activities, effective today Tuesday, May 12. A circular sent by Dubai Tourism describes the new regulations by which certain activities can reopen.

Outdoor tourism and sports activities

The circular specifies that all outdoor tourist and sports activities that require individuals or groups of less than five people are now permitted. This includes water sports, boat rentals, bicycle rentals, and jet skis.

All rental equipment, including boats, should be thoroughly disinfected and no more than five people are allowed at a time. Parties and events are still suspended, as are domestic tourism and sporting activities.

The use of masks and gloves is compulsory for anyone using the rented equipment (including children) and individuals must bring their own linens. Temperature checks are also mandatory for all staff.

Jet skis are limited to one person at a time. Skydiving is permitted but with reduced capacity to allow social distancing. Masks should be worn on the plane but not during the jump, as this could affect breathing and vision. Tandem jumps are not permitted at this stage.

Beaches

Public beaches remain closed at this point, but food and drink outlets can open by following necessary guidelines.

Private beaches are now open to hotel guests at 30% of capacity, but day beach passes are not permitted to be sold at this time.

Groups of up to 10 family or friends can use the beach together, however each person should have a distance of two meters between them and four meters between groups.

Guests are required to bring their own towels and linens, as well as wear a mask at all times (including children). Hotel facilities such as swimming pools, saunas, spas, gymnasiums and children’s clubs will remain closed for the time being.
